Fraserburgh rental market, what landlords need to know
Fraserburgh is a port town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, administered by Aberdeenshire Council, situated approximately 40 miles north of Aberdeen city centre on the north-east tip of the Scottish mainland at the meeting of the North Sea and the Moray Firth, in the Buchan coastal region. Fraserburgh is one of Scotland's principal fishing ports — the port handles significant landings of pelagic fish (herring; mackerel; sprats) and white fish (haddock; cod; whiting), and is home to a substantial fleet of seine netters, trawlers, and pelagic vessels. The Fraserburgh fish market and the associated fish processing and freezing industry on the Fraserburgh Harbour are major employment sources in the town. Fraserburgh Heritage Centre (the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, housed in the world's oldest mainland lighthouse at Kinnaird Head) is the town's principal visitor attraction. The B9031 coastal road links Fraserburgh to Peterhead (18 miles south) and the A90 dual carriageway provides access to Aberdeen (approximately 40 miles south; 50-60 minutes by road). Stagecoach Bluebird provides bus services south to Aberdeen (X46/X47 express service; approximately 75-90 minutes). Key employers in the Fraserburgh area include: the fishing industry (vessel crews; skippers; engineers; net makers and repairers; fish processing and packing; auction and logistics at the Fraserburgh Fish Market); Aberdeenshire Council (Fraserburgh area offices; Fraserburgh Academy); NHS Grampian (Fraserburgh Hospital; Aberdeen Royal Infirmary approximately 40 miles south); the oil and gas service sector (offshore workers commuting to Peterhead supply base or Aberdeen harbour); the food processing and cold storage sector. Rental demand in Fraserburgh is driven by fishing industry workers and vessel crews (significant transient and semi-permanent rental demand from crews on rotational schedules), oil and gas workers, NHS and council employees, and the broader Buchan agricultural and coastal economy. Scottish PRT applies; Scottish Landlord Registration mandatory at register.landlord.gov.scot with Aberdeenshire Council.
